Ah. Here I am. I’m blogging. I didn’t think I would ever do it. My sister-in-law beat me to the punch on it, but I don’t begrudge her the win. At all. Honestly. Well, sort of.
This particular blog has begun because of a singular and amazing occurance. I am going on a trip. Not just any trip. A trip my husband felt called to and because of the impossibility of both of us going, he’s sending me. God truly works in hearts to prepare and equip, so that we may be ready to say, ‘Here am I, Lord, send me’.
This notable and exciting trip I will be taking will start right here in rural Indiana and will end up in Limbe, Cameroon. This little country on the western coast of Africa is suffering, just as is the rest of that continent, from the ravages of all kinds of disease, the most serious being AIDS. The hundreds and hundreds of children who are left behind are the most visible and devastating evidence that aid must be offered as a ministry not only to their bodies, but also to their souls.
When I go, I will be going with two other women, one a missionary to Cameroon, the other the wife of a local pastor. With us will be three precious little souls who have been visiting in the States and whose visas are running out. We must get them back safely to their home and in the duration of our time there, will have many opportunities to aquaint ourselves with the conditions and needs of the people of Cameroon. My intent is to keep you updated as we prepare to go, so that you may join in prayer for those in need “who cannot speak for themselves”.
I may not be able to post while there. I have no idea as the availability of the internet where I will be, but I will journal while offline and will post those as I am able.
I praise God for my family and dear husband who has lead out in this endeavor and holds a passion for these people and little ones deeply and will be at the forfront of the battle, albeit from home.
Until the next time
God bless and keep you, Heather
Yeah, well, you beat me to the altar. Though… I beat you to 30. I guess that means we’re tied, because that last one isn’t something I’m too proud of.
Glad to have you blogging though. I’ve added you to my blogroll, so now we’re (again) forever linked.
